Yesterday, I received word that a relative had passed away. Life is fleeting. Love your loved ones while they are here, and you have the chance. My Uncle was one of the people with whom I was so looking forward to sharing my latest music project. I was planning on visiting him in October, as he lives overseas. I have some Irish roots, and he is one if the thickest roots connecting me to my heritage. There will never be another like him.
But I have more roots, and I will never forget them. Even though they are not near me, I know they are with me. They may be thousands of miles away or looking down on me from heaven, but they are with me. I look to them and I speak to them. They hear me and they answer me. Their spirits will always be alive; they live, breathe, and speak in me.
I always try to make my family proud, whether they are with me in person or in spirit. That will never change. I hope that I am making them proud because I will never stop trying to do so. My Uncle heard me sing before. I actually bombed at a family reunion performance, but we will save that story for another time. He knew of my passion for music and I believe he heard my other recordings. I will continue to make music and live with love in my heart to honour him and all who passed before him. I will also continue to cherish my family relationships and friends as best I can. No one is promised tomorrow, so may the most of every day. God bless you, Uncle.
