Today, I became one step closer to achieving one of my goals for the year. Yes, it is still January, but the Tamworth Country Music Festival (TCMF) takes place in January. I am very grateful to the Busking Coordinator, Kyle who has provided so much great information to all the registered buskers for the festival. He also sent a list of the Peel Street businesses that were still looking for buskers, just over a week from the start of the festival. After scouting out the festival layout, I had about 15 businesses I was planning to call to beg for a busking spot in front of their business.
I was not feeling very positive after my first call to Best & Less when I was quickly told that they were all booked for buskers. But with Kyle’s list and my own research, we had 14 businesses to go. My second call started with a similar sentiment of all booked up, EXCEPT for some 9:00 am spots and three 1 pm to 2.45 pm spots. I immediately replied that I would love to take the Friday, 26 January spot. The lovely Gabby on the phone then asked if I would like to take the 1 pm to 2.45 pm time slot for the whole weekend. The same location, at the same time, for the three days I can busk? YES, PLEASE! The location even has power from a light pole and a designated busking spot marked with a sticker.
So, I am booked! I am one step closer to achieving one of my 10 goals for 2024, busking at the TCMF. And which business will I be appearing in front of during the festival? Well, you can find me at Bond’s Outlet Store on Peel Street, 26-28 January, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm to 2:45 pm. For those who don’t know, Bond’s is an underwear store.
Hmm, I have some ideas for marketing this appearance, but it might get a bit risqué. Looking forward to going into more detail on this in the next post.
